Telling Women's Stories, Philadelphia History Museum, Philadelphia, PA

  • Philadelphia History Museum 15 South 7th Street Philadelphia, PA, 19106 United States (map)

Join two women's history lovers--one, a historian, the other, a novelist--as they reveal the motivations behind their work with women's stories, especially the stories of mothers and babies. Noted historian Janet Golden's book A Social History of Wet Nursing: From Breast to Bottle was an essential resource in the writing of Janet Benton's Lilli de Jong. This will be a rich discussion of the power of fiction and nonfiction as a way of conveying truths about the past and shedding light on the present. Event is free and open to the public.
